History & specs
About the Toyota Mark II
The Toyota Mark II ran from the X30 generation (1972) through the X110's final production in 2007, remaining JDM-only throughout, sold alongside the Chaser and Cresta on a shared platform with common front suspension, engine bay, and drivetrain but different exterior styling and interior emphasis. The Mark II carried a slightly more formal exterior compared to the sportier Chaser; Cresta was the most formal of the three. All became targets for the VIP style community that emerged in Japanese car culture through the 1990s.
The X100 Mark II (1996-2000) Tourer V carries the 1JZ-GTE twin-turbo 2.5L at 280ps, the same engine specification as the Chaser X100 Tourer V of the same generation. Tourer S substitutes the naturally-aspirated 1JZ-GE at 175ps; Grande G uses the 2JZ-GE 3.0L at 225ps (the engine shared with the Supra JZA80 SZ trim). The X110 iR-V transitioned to the 1JZ-FSE direct-injection unit; the turbocharged 1JZ-GTE was not continued into the X110 generation.
X80 models from 1988 are US-eligible. X90 from 1992 entered eligibility from 2017. X100 from 1996 enters eligibility from 2021. X110 from 2000 enters eligibility from 2025. Right-hand drive throughout. The 1JZ-GTE in X100 Tourer V shares its architecture with the Chaser X100; aftermarket upgrades and maintenance procedures documented for the Chaser are transferable with minor dimensional verification. Oil cooler condition and turbocharger feed line inspection are advisable on higher-mileage X100 Tourer V examples.
